Quarter Sawn White Oak Floors, Quartersawn Oak Reclaimed, Radiant Heat Flooring
Quartersawn oak flooring, specifically wide plank quartersawn white oak flooring is recognized as some of the most stable, beautiful flooring in the world. Reclaimed oak is often used in radiant floor heating.
The art of quarter sawing oak, or quartersawn, like many superior practices of the past, has been replaced with plain sawing techniques that are easier, cheaper, and quicker, that produce a lower grade lumber.
Quarter sawn oak is a perfect choice for radiant heat flooring. Radiant floor heating using solid quartersawn oak flooring has always been a good selection for stability, especially when installing floor boards wider than 4 inches.
White oak was the wood of choice for building many of the barns, homes and buildings of our early American history. It is a very strong stable wood that resists rot and wear, particularly when quarter sawn. (quarter sawn floor)

Our quarter sawn white oak and red oak flooring is also created from responsibly harvested forests, old tight growth timber that may contain dead fallen or dead standing trees, often from gypsy moth kill.
White oak flooring that is quarter sawn is often crafted for use in fine homes and prime up-scale construction. No other wood in the world has the long radiated rays that are needed to create this spectacular rich "fleck" look. Quartersawn white oak has historically been used in American mission style furniture, in the American arts and crafts period.
